Award-winning biographer, John Campbell will be talking about Roy Jenkins – probably the best Prime Minister Britain never had. But though Jenkins never reached 10 Downing Street, he left a more enduring mark on British society than most of those who did. His career spanned the full half-century from Attlee to Tony Blair. During this time, he helped transform almost every area of national life and politics.
John Campbell is the author of many biographies including one of Edward Heath, for which he won the 1994 NCR award; The Iron Lady: Margaret Thatcher – from Grocer’s Daughter to Iron Lady, and more recently, Pistols at Dawn: Two Hundred Years of Political Rivalry from Pitt and Fox to Blair and Brown.
Roy Jenkins: A Well Rounded Life was published in March this year.
