Back by popular demand*, Mike White will once again be leading walks around some of the more ‘interesting’ parts of Wantage. Featuring haunted hostelries, flying footwear, mournful manifestations and other equally awful alliterations this is a must for anyone keen to discover some of Wantage’s lesser-known stories.
Walks start at 9pm from the statue of King Alfred in the town centre on Wednesday July 5th and 12th. Tickets at £3 per head are on sale in the Madhatter Bookshop, 18 Mill Street, Wantage, OX12 9AQ; all proceeds go to the Wantage (not just) Betjeman Festival.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. You might like to bring a torch although most of the walk will be in fairly well-lit areas.
SORRY, THE JULY 5TH WALK IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
