Saturday 22 October 7.30pm (Doors open at 7pm) £10 Wantage’s Parish Church of Ss Peter and Paul, immortalised by Sir John Betjeman in his lovely poem Wantage Bells, is the great setting for comedian Paul Kerensa’s festival opening-night show. An exiled Cornishman, Kerensa isn’t just an award-winning stand-up comedian; he is also a highly talented author and TV scriptwriter working on Top Gear, Miranda and Lee Mack’s Not Going Out. The Stage has described him as ‘A comic wave that just keeps coming…’ and chortle.co.uk as ‘a wildly talented comic’. Ricky Gervais just calls him ‘F***ing funny’. It’s not surprising then that he is now rated as one of British Comedy’s leading talents, regularly performing in comedy clubs up and down the country- and in churches too. Expect the audience to be rolling in the aisles as Kerensa delivers his latest hilarious stand-up show. And he’ll bring some books! Check back for further details!
