Saturday, October 31, The Beacon, 7pm: A crisp and tangy 45 minutes of new poetry from festival favourites, Ready Salted! Aimed at an adult audience, this year’s line up features prize-winning poets Cathy Dreyer, Amanda Ferguson, Anna-May Laugher and Hilda Sheehan.
Anna-May Laugher is a widely published, prize-winning poet whose work has been adapted for film by the BBC. She has also had the honour of having a poem stuck to the buttocks of a papier maché covered blow-up love doll by Hilda Sheehan. She lives in Swindon with too many pets and a long-suffering partner.
Hilda Sheehan’s debut collection is, ‘The Night my Sister Went to Hollywood’ (Cultured Llama Press, 2013). She has also published a stunning chapbook of prose poems, ‘Frances and Martine‘ (Dancing Girl, 2014). ‘Joyously funny whilst simultaneously discussing disability, animal rights, racism, size, the menopause, love, female relationships and other issues … comic writing with bite’ – David Caddy, Tears in the Fence.
