Saturday, October 31, The Beacon, from 10am: Are you a new writer? Would you like the chance for an editor to assess your work? Then read on…
Book a 10 minute slot to discuss your manuscript (first 1,000 words/ first chapter of your manuscript – whichever is less – plus your book synopsis) with editor Cherry Mosteshar from Oxford Editors. In your 10 minute slot, Mosteshar will review your work and give you personalised feedback and suggestions regarding what you should consider next: edit, submit or self-publish.
Only one 10 minute slot with Mosteshar may be booked per person. Once you have bought your tickets, email firstname.lastname@example.org to be allocated a time slot. Please state whether you have also booked the Magical Realism workshop – if possible, we will allocate a time for you which won’t clash with the workshop. Then send your submission (see above for details) to email@example.com by Wednesday, October 21 so this can be forwarded to Mosteshar to read before the meeting. Any work submitted will be treated as confidential and forwarded directly to Msteshar. It will not be saved, copied or shared by the festival organisers.
Cherry Mosteshar runs The Oxford Editors, an international literary consultancy, and is also an author and journalist. She started off her career as a television producer then moved into journalism. Her CV includes working for The Washington Post, The New York Times, The South China Morning Post, The Independent, the Financial Times, The Economist and the Guardian. She has also been heard on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, CNN, Radio Five Live, Sky News, and numerous other TV and radio stations. Now based in Oxford, Mosteshar is also an experienced ghostwriter and has written fiction for both adults and children, screenplays and theatrical works. Her latest book, a crime thriller set in the Middle East, England and the US, will be published in 2016. She has also edited books and papers for academics throughout the world.
Mosteshar is a director of Blank Page Press, a new independent publishing house set to launch its first list in 2016 and is a member of the Society of Authors, The Crime Writers’ Association and has served on the committees of The Oxford Theatre Guild and Writers in Oxford.
