Welcome to the 2017 Wantage (not just) Betjeman Festival
Whether you are looking for contemporary novelists, history, science, children’s events or pretty much anything else we are sure you will find something of interest this year. Take a look at our full programme and see what surprises October will bring…
Why not join us at The Beacon for a grand Ball to celebrate the seventh year of the Wantage (not just) Betjeman Festival. In addition to fine food and dancing we will be enlightened and entertained by Felix Francis, son of legendary jockey and author Dick Francis, who took over writing his father’s horse racing thrillers 17 years ago. Growing up locally, he trained as a physicist, teaching the subject at A level for many years. Now a bestselling British crime writer, he will be talking about his latest novel Pulse, and reminisces on his father’s life and, in particular, riding Devon Loch in the 1956 Grand National.
