About the Festival
Originally a celebration of all things Betjeman, the Wantage (not just) Betjeman Festival is now (as the name implies) a wide-ranging collection of events covering literature, poetry, comedy, history, science, the arts and much more. Dedicated to promoting the written (and spoken) word in all its forms the Festival is entirely organised and run by a team of local volunteers. In addition to the main Festival week of events we also run a lively schools’ programme.
The 2017 Festival will run from October 21-28 – watch this space for further information.
Thank you to everyone who supported Festival 2016. It was a brilliant week!
We are very grateful to the authors, publishing houses and performers for enabling us to provide such a diverse and enjoyable programme ; thanks to everyone who attended, the wonderful venue and ticket agency staff and all the great volunteers who gave up their time to make the festival happen.
A special thank you to Renaissance Retirement and all our sponsors. Without their generous support, we would have been unable to stage such a lively and extensive programme. Please check out our Sponsor Page to find out which companies and organisations supported Festival 2016. We would love to hear from any companies or organisations who would like to sponsor Festival 2017. Please email email@example.com for further details.
