Sunday, October 25, The Beacon, 7pm: Ever laughed until your sides ached? Well be prepared…. One of the most talked-about shows on the UK comedy scene – is coming to Wantage.
Austentatious: An Improvised Novel is a comedy play spun in the inimitable style of Jane Austen – and based entirely on audience suggestions.
Come up with a title for an imaginary Jane Austen novel, however improbable, and if yours is the lucky one drawn out of a hat, the highly talented troupe of six will turn it into an improvised show.
Performed in period costume with live cello accompaniment, Austentatious has had three total sell-out Edinburgh Festival runs – and is heading back to the Fringe this August for a fourth.
With 2015 marking the 200th anniversary of the novel ‘Emma’, there can be no better way to celebrate than with a comedy in the style of a ‘lost’ Austen novel.
Made up of TV and radio stars Andrew Murray, Amy Cooke-Hodgson, Joseph Morpurgo, Cariad Lloyd, Graham Dickson and Rachel Parris, this show-stopping team will give you an hour-long performance with all the trappings of Austen’s best work: rounded characters, delicate plotting and real drama, but with relentless gags and utter hilarity. A real treat. http://austentatiousimpro.com
