Wednesday, October 28, The Methodist Chapel, 7pm: Storyteller Marion Leeper will be entertaining adults with her mysterious tale of The Kitchen Cat.
“She couldn’t remember who she was, but she knew that once she had been someone important…”
Scraps of memory, legend and black lace woven together to tell one woman’s rags to riches story.
This romp through the folktales and cocktail dress of 1950s Europe is funny, moving, grotesque and tragic by turns.
Leeper has been listening to and telling stories for as long as she can remember, having grown up in a family of actors, raconteurs and tellers of tall tales.
She has performed in schools, libraries, shops, museums, festivals, dungeons and garden centres throughout Britain.
She tells to all ages, from two to 102.
Her inspiration comes from near and far: stories rooted in her own background as well as myths and legends from around the world.
Leeper searches out the traditional stories that address the deepest concerns and desires, and gives them a twist to bring them into the modern day.
Simple, no frills storytelling that will take you into another world and leave you with food for thought.
